Wu Zhengbao is a renowned contemporary Chinese calligraphy and seal carving artist.

Born in Heilongjiang in 1954, with the pen name Matu and the pen name Huining Niwa. Currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, deputy director of the Calligraphy and Engraving Committee of Heilongjiang Province, and executive director of the Huining Printing Society; Formerly served as the Secretary General of the Acheng City Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chairman of the Acheng City Calligraphers Association. His works have participated in national, Japanese, and Taiwanese art exhibitions multiple times, and his seal carving works have won awards in national calligraphy competitions four times. In the early 1980s, he engaged in engraving creation and organized activities, founded the first engraving team in China, the Acheng Engraving Group, and organized special exhibitions and exchange activities for engraving. At the founding conference of the Chinese Calligraphy Association Engraving Research Association in 1991, he delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of Chinese engraving artists; The art biography has been included in famous books such as "Expert of the Chinese Century", and has published personal art monographs such as "Pecking Stones Collection" and memoirs such as "Journey to the Horse".

Enthusiastic about painting art

I have been fond of painting art since childhood. In 1963, I won the first prize in elementary school painting and participated in the painting of opera sets at Acheng No.1 Middle School. My works were selected for the Acheng County Art Exhibition. From 1975 to 1979, he painted feathers, wheat and orange, and created wood reliefs. From 1978 to 1997, he participated in Acheng Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival) and won 11 awards. In 1981, black and white prints were selected for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China in the provincial art exhibition. Subsequently, 36 stone carvings were published in newspapers and magazines such as Guangming Daily and People's Customs. In 2007, I studied over 80 traditional Chinese paintings in Beijing and presented them to my friends and family.

Study calligraphy


In 1982, his calligraphy works won the first prize at the Acheng Spring Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition. In 1984 and 1985, his works were selected for calligraphy exhibitions in Harbin and Heilongjiang provinces.   The work was selected for the "Eight Hundred Idioms in a Series" and "Member's Guide to the Chinese Book Association". In October 1984, he was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Acheng County Calligraphers Association. In May 1990, he became the first Chairman of the Acheng Calligraphers Association. In September 2012, he resigned and became the Honorary Chairman of the Acheng District Calligraphers Association.

Pecking stone seal carving

In 1969, he began carving name stamps (hand stamps), and by 1978, he had carved more than 3780 stamps for free. In 1978 and 1979, the seal carving works were selected for the Calligraphy and Seal Carving Exhibition in Heilongjiang Province, and in 1984, they won the first prize for art calligraphy in the Songhua River area. In December 1984, the "Huining Printing Society" was founded, and the following year, Acheng and the Calligraphy Activity Center of Heilongjiang Province held the "Huining Printing Society Eight Stone Works Exhibition". Seal carving works have been exhibited and exchanged in Hyogo and Hokkaido, Japan, and have won excellent awards in the "Patriotic Cup" domestic and international calligraphy competition and the "Huashan Cup" calligraphy and painting competition. The work has been included in dictionaries such as the "China Printing Yearbook" and has created over 230 seal cutting works. It has been published in 111 newspapers and magazines such as "Guangming Daily", "China Book Pictorial", and "China Elderly"; Carved over 520 private seals for family and friends.

Glorious Inscriptions

In June 1983, the debut calligraphy work "Endless Learning Sea" was selected for the first board engraving exhibition in Heilongjiang Province, and the following year, the mud tile engraving was selected for the national engraving invitation exhibition. In April 1986, he advocated for the development of calligraphy creation activities in Acheng. In July, he organized and guided calligraphy creation classes. On August 10th, Acheng successfully exhibited calligraphy for the first time. On February 23, 1987, Acheng Engraving was exhibited at the National Art Museum of China, the highest hall of Chinese art. In April, the Acheng Engraving Art Research Society was founded, and the editor in chief of the "Engraving Art" newspaper was appointed. In November, he represented Heilongjiang Province to participate in the Sino Japanese Engraving Exchange Exhibition in Jinan, Shandong. In October 1991, he delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of Chinese engraving artists to the founding conference of the Chinese Calligraphy Association Engraving Research Association in Liuzhou, Guangxi. In November 2002, he was elected as a member of the Heilongjiang Book Association and the deputy director of the Engraving Committee. The following year, he won the gold medal at the first Engraving Exhibition in Heilongjiang Province. Born on August 21, 1954. I entered primary school in 1962 and transferred to Acheng Normal Affiliated Primary School the following year. In the spring of 1969, I was promoted to Hongqi Middle School, and in the autumn, I transferred to Acheng No.1 Middle School to attend junior and senior high school until graduation.

Work in rural areas

On August 20, 1974, he jumped the queue and joined the Peiketu Happiness Seventh Team in Acheng County. In December 1976, he returned to the city and joined Acheng Transportation Company, serving as a publicity officer and vice chairman of the labor union. He drew promotional posters for the company's passenger station and organized cultural and sports activities for employees.

Traffic improvement

In May 1984, he was transferred to the Acheng County Transportation Bureau without exception, responsible for labor and capital personnel, organization, discipline inspection, employee education and other work; Promoted to a national cadre in October. Promoted to the first level salary reward in 1986, and appointed as the chairman of the deputy bureau level trade union in January 1990. Acheng Federation of Literary and Art Circles

In January 1991, he was appointed as the Secretary General of the Literary Federation of the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee. Establish the quarterly magazine "Acheng Literary and Art Circle", organize a new exhibition of Acheng engraved characters, and participate in the closing ceremony of the China Calligraphy Art Expo in October. The following year, he edited a large-scale photography album called "Acheng" and in July, he boarded a helicopter navigation to take photos. Returning to Transportation

In June 1993, he returned to the Transportation Bureau and was responsible for the work of the trade union and party committee office. In December 1995, the "Pecking Stone Collection" was published, initiating a grand gathering of 12 transportation families. In 1996, the property rights reform of transportation enterprises that I participated in was completed, and seven companies including moving and Yanbei were dissolved. Completed the compilation and printing of the 1995 and 1996 Transportation Yearbook in October 1997.

Transportation management business

In June 1998, the Municipal Party Committee decided to appoint him as the head of Acheng Transportation Management Station. In May of the following year, Acheng Hongyun Company was founded. In November, the government approved the development of a transportation market, and the unit acquired 67000 square meters of land to build a freight parking lot and office building. In March 2000, he was awarded the title of Model Worker in Acheng City. In September 2002, he went to Taiwan for exchange with the Acheng Cultural and Historical Delegation, and in December, he published his 48 year life memoir "Journey to the Horse". In November 2005, he was awarded the model worker of Heilongjiang transportation system.

Off duty rest

According to the reform documents of Acheng's public institutions, he resigned from his position at the transportation management station in March 2006, with no change in his remuneration, and took a leave of absence to rest. After leaving office for audit, the fixed assets of the unit increased by 8.497 million yuan in 8 years. In November, the younger brother and his wife went to Taiwan to visit their 90 year old third uncle. In January 2007, he attended the graduation ceremony of his eldest son Haotian at Peking University. In March, he published the sequel "Zhengbao" to "Ma Tu". In February 2010, he hosted the first ancestor worship ceremony of the Wu family and compiled and printed the "Wu Family Reunion" newspaper.

Retirement Life

On September 10, 2014, he retired with the approval of the Organization Department and Personnel Bureau of the District Committee. On October 8th, the eldest son Haotian's wedding celebration was held in Acheng. In October 2015, he traveled with a group to eight European countries. On December 1st, his grandson Wu Dawei was born at the Beijing Naval General Hospital. In March 2018, Ma Tu's sequel "Xin Bu" was published. I settled in Xicheng District, Beijing in March 2019, and in September, I published the "Collection of New Paintings and Calligraphy by Pecking Stone Wanran". In June 2021, 10 calligraphy, seal carving, and engraved characters were included in the "Jinjing Art Friends Calligraphy and Painting Photography Collection". The following year, during the epidemic control period, 28 wooden board engraved characters were created in Bayuquan. In October 2023, the editing and design of "Old Ma Tu Photos" will be completed, and it will be printed in August of the following year.
